Get Up & Go Green Juice

Ingredients:
2 cups spinach
1/2 grapefruit
2 apples
1-one inch piece fresh ginger
2 celery stalks
ice (optional)

1. Working in this order, put spinach, grapefruit, apples, ginger and celery through the juicer.

2. Fill 2 glasses with ice, if desired, and pour the juice into the glasses.

I prefer to make the juice, fill my mason jar and sip on it. mmm.

I also made a batch of tasty peanut butter berry bars from the lovely Becky at Olives & Wine and these healthy peanut butter rice krispie treats #BetterThanRiceKripieTreats from Lee at Fit Foodie Finds. #PeanutButterMakesAComeback

FOODIE FACT : Pomelo is where the grapefruit is hybridized from with the help of the orange. It is also one of the high packed Vitamin C fruits which hold with it so many benefits according to Dr. Linus Pauling

Here are some basic facts:

Vitamin C is a cofactor of enzymes involved in the formation of collagen, a protein which strengthens and makes skin elastic encouraging faster wound healing. Vitamin C enhances the absorption of iron in the body.

Pomelo is also packed with fiber, a must-have nutrient to help maintain regular bowel movements, prevent hemorrhoids and even colon cancer.

This amazing fruit helps those still not on plant based diets lose weight due to its high natural fiber content.

This is one of my favorite fruits and is a great way to trick the body in feeling full. For those who are trying to slowly transition into more raw plant based diets I would definitely recommend having this fruit part of your diet.

...and salad. always lots. of salad.

...trying to comment more often on blogs that I really enjoy. It's so easy to read blogs in a reader and then flip to the next one. As a blogger, I love getting comments so I'm really trying to share the love. Just know that even if I don't comment every. single.time. I'm still reading you.

...wishing that I had tickets to go to this event this weekend. I'm definitely not a biker chick (not that there is anything wrong with that). Yet, I fell in love with motorcycles and boys who ride them when I was in my early twenties (I think I'm more addicted to the speed than the bikes, but that's another story).

Did you see who the special guests are? Chibs and Tig from Sons of Anarchy. SOLD OUT. Boo!

...needing some more z's. I've been getting into the habit of staying up later than usual and snoozing through my first and second alarms, which leads to cranky rushed mornings. Me and "My Little Taste Tester" no likey.

    1. Thanks D! #LoveHashtagMashups! :)

Lee's Rice Krispie treats were one of the simplest things I have ever made and soooo good! Definitely take a trip to get some :)

6 girls in a fam of gingers causes some confusion sometimes :) I'm a little jealous of my sisters' hair color. Their red is so vibrant. My older brother used to tell me I was adopted (omg right)! lol

  2. The Hunger Games was definitely an epic series. Have you read Divergent? That's another amazing one. And Delirium is really great as well. And I hear you on needing more zzz's -- I could definitely us a little more myself.

    1. I've heard nothing but good things about the Divergent series..mostly from bloggers, like you :) I've seen the trailers for the movie and would love the opportunity to read the books first. Sometimes the movie really spoils it for me..because as I'm reading, I start seeing the characters from the movie..I don't like that so much.

Plus, every time I'm in Chapters, that series literally stares me right in the face. They have it on display as soon as you walk through the entrance..and at the cash too. #MustBeASign

Hope you have a chance to catch up on some z's..little miss 5am! :) Whatever you're doing though, it obviously works for you..lovely lady! X

  4. Happy Birthday to your Sister! I cannot get over how alike the two of you look. #crazy! Did you get your bangs? If so - I love them. You are just gorgeous, Maria!

So sorry to hear you're feeling stressed (my heart breaks for you), but please keep in mind that God is alongside you 24/7 - even when you don't feel him. Keep your head up, and smile! Smiling always brings happiness. Also, believe all will work out.. and it usually does <3

    1. Thanks so much for sending my sister a lovely birthday wish, Jessie..and for the lovely compliments! I DID just get my bangs cut..thank you, you're always the sweetest! :)

AND you're soooo right!! Somebody just recently told me, "You can't control everything! Just concentrate on what you CAN control". It was hard for me to admit it, but sometimes I can't control the way things are..I can only control the way I handle the situation! I don't really want to get into specifics..but I was getting myself all worked up constantly, trying, but failing every time. This was causing extreme anxiety, and anger.. Once I started focusing on what that person told me, and actually accept it and work on it - life has already become so much easier! :)

Smiling helps sooooo much, you've got that right! Plus, I am continually reminding myself that God IS on my side, always watching, and always taking good care of me. It DOES always work out...and these silly emotions should have never deserved a place in my heart. Thank you for your kind words and support, Jessie! It really means the world to me! Hugs xxoo
